Widget not showing up on page

Resolved

Requested: 7 years and 5 months ago

As you can see I purchased Advanced Sidebar Menu Pro today or maybe yesterday wherever you are. I have installed both Advanced Sidebar Menu and Pro but I can’t seem to get it to work –meaning the widget does not appear to be inserted on the page. Any ideas…?

Thanks,
Ben

    Hi Ben,

Could you please post a link to where I can see a page which has the widget added to a sidebar but it is not showing up?

    Thank you.

Your widget is inserted between Search and What’s New…
    Thanks,
    Ben

I am unable to find any trace of the widget being added to the sidebar on the homepage to determine which widget you are using.

If you would like to post credentials for a temporary admin account, I can login and take a look. (Please use the “Private Information” field to post them).

Otherwise, I can say that either widget will not display on the homepage without using a filter because both widgets require a parent/child relationship of a category, post, or page to know which should show up.

If you are using the category widget please see this thread for the filter to use. If you are using the page widget, please provide me with the page which you would like to use as the top parent and I will write you a filter.

P.S. This feature to display the widget on the homepage or other locations using options is going to be part of the next minor version (3.1.0).

The ability to display the widget on every page the sidebar is displayed (such as homepage) is now part the PRO plugin version 3.1.0

For finer control you may use a plugin from the WordPress community which allows specifying pages a widget or sidebar should display. As long as “Display on every page” is checked in the widget, this plugin will honor any location settings from other WordPress plugins.

    Hi Ben,

I am now able to login, however with editor only access, I am unable to access the areas of the admin (mainly widgets) that I need to see to troubleshoot this.

    Hi Ben,

I was able to track this down to the “Widget Context” setting. This was set to “Show widget on selected” but nothing was selected.

I have made the following changes and now the widget shows up:

    1. Updated this plugin to version 3.1.0
    2. Updated the basic version to 7.1.2
    3. Selected “Show widget everywhere” in the “Widget Context”
    4. Checked “Display widget on every page”

Spoke too soon. Anyway you can check the accordion feature…the javascript (?) perhaps is not working…

    Thanks,
    Ben
