Update PRO Plugin via License Key?

Resolved

Requested: 2 years and 1 month ago

Thank you so much for the fantastic plugin. I was curious if you had any plans to enable a license key for the PRO plugin that would allow updates to occur in the typical fashion? The client site we’re using this on has become a slight pain to update this past week as every time we run the normal updates their side menus all stop working until I can log in and manually download/upload the plugin. Unfortunately I’m not always the one running the site updates so there has been risk of downtime.

If an automatic upload option is out of the question, do you have any suggestions for avoiding conflicts with the PRO plugin as you upgrade your base? Is there something I should be doing to increase the chances of backward compatibility here?

    Hi Michael,

Each plugin download has a license key automatically embedded which allows you to automatically update the plugin using the typical plugin update system.

As of yesterday’s release, you should see the following update notifications in your plugins list.

Are you receiving some form of error when trying to update? Is the plugin update not showing up in your plugins list?

One possibility if you are not seeing the plugin update, is the site which is using the plugin has been blocked by our server’s firewall. It’s rare, but it does happen. If you could let me know what the IP of the server using the plugin is, I will see if it is on the block list.

    Hi Michael,

Upon further investigation, we realized the “Enable auto-updates” link does not display in the plugins list for the PRO version unless a new version is available. While the plugin does support auto updates, not seeing the way to enable them consistently can be confusing.

We have created a fix which will allow the “Enable auto-updates” link to display on the plugins list, regardless if there is an update available. This fix will be included when version 8.2.1 is released.

    Have a great day!

Appreciate the quick response! Sounds like that’s good news then. I’ll keep an eye out over the next few releases and will let your team know if we run into that issue again.

    Thanks again!
