The options for the “Go Live” tool don’t show when I access the Tools section to move this website from the /wordpress/ file to the “root” file. As a precaution I have copied the most recent files and documents to both the “root” level and a /wordpress/ sub-file until everything is properly transferred and visible!
This is a kind of “acid test” for similar action on a dozen other small business and “artistic” (actor) websites I manage, so it’s crucial I get the process “down pat” with this website – then duplicate the process for the others.
I have uploaded the “go-live-update-urls-pro” file to websites where I need to move the contents to the “root” URL. The basic version is also installed. They show up as 2 distinct files on the FTP. Is this the reason that the “pro” version doesn’t show on the WordPress dashboard when I try to update URLs in the Tools section? I only see the “basic” version – inciting me to use the Pro version.
Please advise on this, using this website example as a blueprint for the many others to follow!
Many thanks in advance,

Does “Go Live Update Urls PRO” display in your plugins list in the WordPress Admin?

Thank you very much for your quick reply. 🙂
Initially the Pro file didn’t show up in the WP back office after I up-loaded it via FTP. Then it showed up and I was able to activate it.
Thanks to your on-line tips and this great tool everything is “hunky dory” with the website now, and I’ll replicate the same process for the others.
Is there a way to “add” the Pro plug-in through WordPress, or does it have to be through an FTP upload?
In any case, thank you very much once again!

Here is a great tutorial on how to install plugins in various ways.
The easiest way to install the plugin through WordPress can be found under “Install a Plugin using the WordPress Admin Plugin Upload”

Thanks a lot for the video tutorial link.
I didn’t realize one could upload through the wordpress dashboard a premium “plug-in of a plug-in” like that, for example to add the “pro” version for your basic plug-in.
I’m actually using the “more difficult” FTP (FileZilla) method.
;-O
Good to know! Thanks a lot again!

It sounds to me like you may have your site installed in a “wordpress” directory on your server. To remove the “wordpress” from the url you may run this plugin like normal entering http://deniseclose.net/wordpress/ as the old url and http://deniseclose.net/ as new one.
You then must adjust your server one of the 2 following ways:
Move your site files out of the “wordpress” directory and into the root of your site.
Configure your server’s virtual host to point to the “wordpress” directory as the site root.
I understand both ways require some server/ftp knowledge and access to change. I am unable to provide exact instructions for adjusting your server due to lack of knowledge and access, but i may be able to offer some tips along the way.
