Just Children of Defined Parent Page

Resolved

Requested: 2 years and 11 months ago

Hey Mat,

this is not a bug or problem with your software.
I’m after advice on how to achieve something, it seems simple to me but not sure if your plugin will allow for it.

so I want to be able to insert a list of child pages of a defined parent.

dev page: https://wwc.nichestaging.com/our-council/

for example: ‘Governance’ heading I would like to just see the pages that are children of governance – does that make sense?
(I need to be able to do it for multiple time for the other 3 headings but in the same page – Our Place Our Council and Jobs @ Council).

Anyway I can do this with your plugin? Any suggestions would be great – or if its easier for you simple have a play – please jump into that page and insert and configure as you think.

Cheers for any suggestions or help

    Hi Cain,

This may be accomplished by using 4 separate widgets with the following settings:

    1. Display highest level parent page.
    2. Always display child pages
    3. Maximum level of child pages to display = 1
    4. Display widget on every page.
    5. Top level parent Page to use for this widget = Top page of section.

There is one catch. The widget only supports selecting top level pages, so to make this work you’ll have to break out your page structure to have the matching page be a top level page without a parent. For instance, these pages will need to have no parent selected:

    1. Our Place
    2. Our Council
    3. Governance
    4. Jobs @ Council

    Hope this helps!

    Hey Mat,

Apologies for the delayed response, but thank you.
If they have to be top level that’s what we will run with as the client wants this sort of dynamic menu display on these landing pages.

Thanks for your help – you provide great support and clarity.

    🙂

    Cheers
    Cain
