Child menu arrow display + Page Ordering

Resolved

Requested: 3 years and 11 months ago

Hi, I have bought and installed the pro plugin, the arrows to display the accordion menu are only available when I’m on the parent page. Is it possible for the accordion arrows to be displayed at all times?

Thanks

I tried selecting “It is recommended that you use the “Always display child pages” option when using this feature.” but it seems to screw up the menu order.

Sorry for stalking! I have it working now, the arrows are displaying all the time but the menu is displaying in the wrong order.

    Hi Liam Mac,

Looks like you currently have the order set to “Page Order” which will follow order specified within page attributes.

If you like you change change the order to “Title” to display alphabetical or use a plugin like simple page ordering to drag and drop the order of your pages.

    Have a great day!

Thanks, can it not be ordered the way the menu is set up?

If I turn off “Always display child pages”

it displays in the menu order.

    Thanks!

    Hi Liam,

You may use the Navigation Widget to display the same menu and order as your site’s navigation menu (if that is what you are trying to do).

Otherwise, the current widget you are using Page Widget is not connected to your site’s navigation menu and may only be ordered based on the pages it displays and their settings. You can certainly order your pages to match the site’s navigation menu, but it will not be able to order automatically based on it.

    Have a great day!

Thanks Mat, sorry my fault I was using the wrong widget. I have the correct widget in place now but the accordion isn’t working, I’ve followed all instructions but the menu is open all the time rather than closed. Also, where it says ‘It is recommended that you use the “Always display child pages” option when using this feature.‘, that option isn’t available using the sidebar navigation menu.

What I’m trying to achieve is a menu which displays all top level items with arrows that can be used to open up the accordion child menu items.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Liam Mac,

    You are really close 🙂

All you need to do is check the “Include highest level parent in accordion” and the menu will work as described.

Thanks for pointing out that misleading description. I will remove it from the Navigation widget in the next version.

    Have a great day!
