Archive template

Resolved

Requested: 1 year and 7 months ago

Hi there, I have a custom post type “Find a service” and an archive template for the custom post type called that acts as a landing page.

I am using the posts widget as the posts for the sidebar and the posts are set up hierarchically i.e parent/child/grandchild etc.

Obviously, the archive template is not going to show up in the sidebar as it’s not a post and not part of the hierarchy of the posts as it’s a separate template.

But I wanted to know is it possible to include this post archive as the highest level parent in the sidebar in any way?

    Hi Dion,

One approach would be to use the Page Links To plugin to create a placeholder find a service post which links to the archive.

    1. Create a new “Find a service” post.
    2. Use Page Links To fields to point the post to your archive.
    3. Assign to new “Find a service” post as the parent of your current parent post.

    Have a great day!
