I think I need help

Resolved

Requested: 5 years and 4 months ago

I have installed the Go live update URLS plug-in and  the PRO version.  Instead of migrating the old site I basically re-built it on the new host. Bluehost. While I was building it and before changing the DNS settings to point to the new host, I was given a temporary URL.  I know how to fix the urls internally by hand. In the content I have mixed URLS, I need to change everything that uses the temporary URL to the correct URL.

The home page URL is now: http://box5210.temp.domains/~stheleo4/

I need it to be http://sthelenacoop.org

Do you have anyone who I could pay to fix this for me? I am very hesitant to change the URL by myself. Thanks in advance.

    Good Morning David.

While we currently don’t have anyone available to handle the migration for you, I certainly can offer you some tips along the way.

    1. The first thing you are going to want to do is make a backup. Bluehost has some helpful documentation.
    2. Next you will want to point your computer’s host file from sthelenacoop.org to the new IP address so you can see the site before you change the DNS settings. The IP address appears to be 162.241.224.203.
    3. Run this plugin with the following settings:
      1. Old URL: box5210.temp.domains/~stheleo4
      2. New URL: sthelenacoop.org
    4. Verify everything looks good by going to sthelenacoop.org from your computer.
    5. Change your DNS settings to point sthelenacoop.org to 162.241.224.203

    Hope this helps!

    Mat Lipe
